WAC 296-59-005
Incorporation of other standards. (1)
Lifts and tows shall be designed, installed, operated, and
maintained in accordance with American National Standard
Institute (ANSI) B77.1-1982, Standards for Passenger
Tramways -- Aerial Tramways and Lifts, Surface Lifts, and
Tows -- Safety Requirements.
(2) Future revised editions of ANSI B77.1-1982 may be
used for new installations or major modifications of existing
installations, as recommended or approved by the equipment
manufacturer or a qualified design engineer, except that,
where specific provisions exist, variances shall be requested
from the department.
(3) Reserved.
(4) The use of military type weapons for avalanche
control shall comply with all requirements of the United
States government and/or the military branch having
jurisdiction. Compliance shall include qualification of
employees, security requirements, and storage and handling of
ammunition.
(5) The employer shall develop and maintain a chemical
hazard communication program as required by WAC 296-800-170,
which will provide information to all employees relative to
hazardous chemicals or substances to which they are exposed,
or may become exposed, in the course of their employment.
(6) When employees perform activities such as
construction work or logging, the WAC chapter governing the
specific activity shall apply, e.g., chapter 296-155 or 296-54
WAC, et seq.
